DDA Diamond Deepanshu Selected In NDA & Shared His Experience With DDA Students

DEEPANSHU –A DDA STUDENT WHO WAS SELECTED FOR NDA AND SHARED HIS EXPERIENCE WITH THE DDA CONTEMPORARIES ‘PERSISTENCE, PERSEVERANCE AND PASSION TOGETHER CAN DO MAGIC’ Deepanshu a DDA student confessed that he gets emotional at all the stages of his selection whenever he faced a trial or could not overcome his shortcomings, he cried. He says that the Psychology test is all about what you actually are. The examiner will show you a picture and then you will be made to write a few lines on the images shown in the next 4 to 5 minutes and as per Deepanshu, a candidate will write whatever he thinks or whatever is filled in his mind. He had gone to Bangalore for his 12 SSB. When he appeared for his first SSB, he was found diagnosed with Chicken pox. He was isolated. In one of his rounds of SSB, he was screened out because of his overconfidence. Due to his overconfidence, he did not work in coordination with the other members of his group and this was a mistake. He did not listen to anyone. He was so overconfident that he even telephoned his father about his outstanding performance. He cried a lot but then he introspected where he was wrong and how he should make up for that loss. He used to play a lot of cricket. He had his notes on current affairs and everyone thought that he was preparing for his UPSC exam. He failed the third time in the SSB interview round as he repeated the same mistakes and due to this, he was screened out. One needed to be bold and straightforward forwards but usually, students are mindful of their public image and would not want to get insulted or feel humiliated due to any embarrassing situation. Only after the mock interview faced by Deepanshu, did he realize what mistakes he was making and how to overcome his follies and foibles. He was too pragmatic initially to accept his mistakes and shortcomings. Sandeep Sir’s DDA taught him how to handle every phase of the SSB selection and what is anticipated by the screening committee from the candidate to qualify for it. One needs to be a good listener and not be overconfident. He was a great scholar with 93 percent in the tenth board exam and 95 percent in the 12th board exam. He played in National tournaments in three different activities including football, karate, and Athletics, and due to his achievements, he felt he was different from the others. Due to his achievements, he was certain and sure of his selection but the screening committee told him point blank that he should not be selected. He cried a lot due to his sadness and was offended by this statement. He accepted his follies. His father told him to introspect. Unless you accept your mistakes, you cannot be selected and it is important to be humble. He learned to listen more than speak and he also learned that if his idea was accepted, it was fine and if not, he would not compel anyone for the same. Eventually, he accepted his follies and foibles, and he was screened during his 4th SSB. He was good at writing skills and he felt that he was dominated in the discussion so he corrected himself during the fourth SSB round. He did his Psychology test. He then had his interview. He was asked about his weakness by the SSB and so he said that his handwriting was bad and he wished to be more updated with General Knowledge. He was sometimes lazy. During the 4th SSB, when he was asked about his weaknesses, he said that he wished to improve his communication skills. But the screening committee told him that his communication skills were very good. He also said that when he was nervous, he talked really fast and his answers satisfied the screening committee members. He also said that he wished to work on his money management skills. He told them how he could not manage to use his 3000 rupees of pocket money per month in a tactful manner and he used to borrow around 500 more from others to manage his expenditure. When he was asked by the screening committee how he managed his anger. He said that he is really competitive so when he loses a game, he needs some time in solitude to manage his feelings and be composed to come out of it and his answers were taken positively. He frankly told them about his strengths. He was asked if he gained any certificates of achievement. He showed them the huge pile of certificates he had taken with him. Unless a student has certificates, your interview will be cut short. He did his GTO so well that he could guarantee 10 out of 10 in it. The first round was group discussion and the only reason he was recommended was due to his skills as a debater. He got very good ideas during all four SSB rounds. They agreed to each other’s ideas so amicably and humbly. Their first topic was ‘Would India become a superpower? And what had it to work on –alliance, technology, or trade? and the discussion went beautifully and smoothly. The second topic was “Social media- and its influence?”.
