“WOMEN EMPOWERMENT IS THE NEED OF THE HOUR” Doon Defence Academy is consistently working to upgrade the position and status of women in society so that ample security and protection can be given to the girls who are vulnerable and are prone to many injustices and inequalities on account of gender bias and many other social evils existing even in this modern world and the best thing DDA has done in this direction is making the girls self-reliant and independent. The most important aspect of independence is to act in self-defense when attacked by someone in ambush or unexpected assault or any kind of violence, they might have to undergo. The best way to be fearless is to be strong and this can happen only if they acknowledge the vast potential they possess –both intellectually and physically and make optimum use of all possibilities which can brighten their lives and make them more future-ready for eventualities. Nothing is predictable and life is always uncertain. The more virtuous and sturdy girls are physically, emotionally, and financially, the less vulnerable they are to the upheavals of life and are in a position to surmount all difficulties that come their way. In Doon Defence Academy, Mr. Dhirendra Singh is the coach who takes the physical training classes for the girls to teach them various tactics and physical feats which they can use in self-defense. He is an experienced physical training instructor and self defence instructor with a professional degree and has 22 years of experience in his professional service. He retired from Garhwal Rifles and trains the girls in unarmed Combat (UAC). He also requires the cadets to perform crunches, pushups, side jumps, and jumping jacks and even in activities like Unarmed combat practice sessions and 100 meters sprint. Sandeep Sir, the director of Doon Defence Academy, believes that in today’s society, females must be just as powerful as boys and demonstrate their equality with men. In this era of female empowerment, every girl has to be aware of the numerous opportunities that exist to improve her future and develop a vibrant personality.
