Deepak Surana- A Prolific Writer Of Books On Armed Forces Addressed DDA Students
DEEPAK SURANA- A PROLIFIC WRITER OF BOOKS ON ARMED FORCES ADDRESSED DDA STUDENTS GUEST LECTURE BY DEEPAK SURANA TO DDA STUDENTS MOTIVATED ALL DDA STALWARTS WITH NAMES ETCHED IN GOLDEN LETTERS, MARTYRS ARE IMMORTALIZED IN THE HEARTS AND MINDS OF COUNTRYMEN THROUGH THEIR BRAVE DEEDS The author of the best-selling biography of the Shershah of Kargil, Captain Vikram Batra, was given a hearty welcome at Sandeep Sir’s Doon Defence Academy on June 16th when he came face-to-face on the podium to discourse with them and motivate them to be consistent and focused on their aim. A young budding writer was in front of the DDA Diamonds, who were both thrilled to meet the author face-to-face and also to be inspired by his words. After a formal welcome with a bouquet of flowers to the special guest, he introduced himself to the students and gave them important tips to be successful. He told them to never lose hope, to keep on trying till success is achieved, and never to a grudge, as no one in this world is perfect. He added that the students should keep on working to overcome their shortcomings (work on their weak areas) to get success in the armed forces. He authored two books, and one of them is titled “Shershah of Kargil,” as the title was given to Vikram Batra (posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, the highest Indian military decoration) for his exemplary courage in the face of extreme danger to make Indians win the Kargil war. He was killed while fighting Pakistani troops around Area Ledge, Point 4875, in the Kargil district of erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir on July 7, 1999. The book ‘Sher Shah of Kargil’ was published by Navraj Publications, and many DDA students purchased the book. Around 4,000 copies have already been sold including some purchased by DDA students. The DDA students expressed their enthusiasm by clapping in excitement, and it was indeed an amazing experience for all the students. The two books are “The Shershal of Kargil” and The Kargil Story”. Both books are best sellers among readers who wish to explore the most vital key points for a successful career in the armed forces. Both stories provide inspiration to be cadets and officers at coveted ranks and leave an everlasting impression on the reader’s mind through their exceptionally brave acts of valour. The work of the author is a way of giving back, albeit in a minuscule way, to the Batra family for giving away their son to safeguard our motherland. The main objective of inviting the special guest was to keep the fire of passion alive in the hearts and minds of the DDA students to keep trying till they succeed and never to accept defeat even in the direst situation.
