Commandant Sudhir Verma introduced himself and said that he was with the Indian Armed Forces for 36 long years and during this long duration he got the opportunity to serve the country through a plethora of activities and duties given to him to be performed. He learnt a lot and got exposed to many aspects of the Indian Armed Forces. He was in different departments related to flying, artillery and many more things and activities. He expressed the fact that India was fortunate to get such a vast population of young children ready to go in the Indian Armed Forces. In order to become an officer, India’s most prestigious academy is allotted the task and that is National Defence Academy Khadakwasla. A few requirements are meant to fulfill the criteria of getting entry in NDA, Khadakwasla. The first one is that the age should be in the bracket of 16 and a half to 19 years, should be a 12th pass out from a recognized university or college. The candidate has to qualify the written exam of NDA and this exam is conducted by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission). The exam is conducted two times in a year. One exam is conducted in April and the second exam is held in September. The notifications for the exam are issued two or three months before the exam and the candidate gets one month to fill the online form. The syllabus for the exams is the same as you have in classes 10th 11th and 12th. Thereafter a merit list is prepared. The candidates who qualify the written exam are called for an interview and the interviewers send them to Army, Navy or Air Force as per what their choices are in the online form. The SSB interview is conducted for 5 days and it is just a psychology-based interview. The Psychology test, intelligence test and group tests along with individual interview. The whole procedure involves two phases. Those who qualify the written exam are forwarded for the SSB interview. On the very first day, you have your screening test. The screening test is also divided into two parts. The first part consists of your overall intelligence and the second psychology test and aptitude towards the military profession are tested. Those who pass the screening test are then told to stay for detailed testing. Psychology test, GTO and personal interview are the parts of detailed testing. Those who qualify the SSB interview are told that they need to stay for the medical examination. Those who do not get recommended are sent home. After the medical test, the students leave to again resume their studies. Later when the academy finds them appropriate and suitable for the post are called by the academy when they clear the medical test successfully. HOW DOES THE GRADUATE APPLY FOR CDSE IN THE INDIAN ARMED FORCES Commandant Sudhir Verma answered the most relevant question asked by Mr. Anil Rawat who asked about the career graduates could make in the Indian Armed Forces. If the science students have an aptitude for engineering or have an excessive interest in Science and Maths and have scored well in classes 10th and 12th are bound to appear in the JEE main exam (the most prestigious exam of India). This is another way to get into the technical entry of Indian Armed Forces in the officer cadre. These candidates can directly go for the SSB interview and they do not have to appear for the written exam on condition that the candidate should get at least 70 percent marks in the aggregate in PCM. A cut off is given. The technical entry scheme allows such deserving candidates to get recruited in Indian Armed Forces by appearing directly. Like NDA, these candidates too get great opportunities to serve Indian Military. After graduation, the candidate can appear for the CDS written examination. This has the same procedure as NDA and the candidates who qualify the two rounds of selection join Indian Military Academy. The same procedure is followed as NDA. HOW TO PREPARE FOR SSB INTERVIEW The candidates who are academically sound, have an impressive personality and good communication skills, general reading habits and hobbies, along with the skill of time management can easily clear the SSB interview. The candidates who keep on improving their personality have no difficulty.
